AMI ALEXANDRE MATTIUSSI
Born in 1980, Alexandre Mattiussi studied at Duperré fashion design school in Paris, specialising in menswear design.
After working on Dior’s ‘30 Montaigne’ men’s line, he joined Givenchy as first menswear assistant, where he honed his knowledge of men’s tailoring for over five years. Subsequently, Mattiussi worked on Marc Jacobs Men, travelling between Paris, Milan and New York. After these formative experiences and thanks to many inspiring people he met along the way, the 30 year old designer launches his own brand in 2011: AMI. The brand’s name is composed of his initials and the last letter of his name.
Translated into English it means ‘friend’. In 2013, Alexandre Mattiussi won the ANDAM Fashion Award Grand Prix. Ami is a unique concept of ready to wear for men: a complete men’s wardrobe, well designed, easy, chic and above all, cool. « This collection is not about fantasy. It is a proposition of real clothes for a real man”, explains the designer. Ami is positioned at an affordable price point while offering high quality and sophisticated designs. The clothes are made with Love, as indicated on the label. His SS14 collection is named “Paris sous les Tropiques”
